GRAHAM R/C FLYERS
REGULAR MEETING
Mar 15, 2004

The March meeting of Graham R/C Flyers was held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 15, 2004, at Zack Burkett Co. Attending were Zack Burkett, III, Bill Martin, Marney Ignacio, Dick Rovnyak, Doc Dockstader, Bob Castor, Mary Castor, Richard Herndon, Oliver Watson and guest Curtis Herndon.

The minutes for the January 12, 2004 Regular Meeting were approved.

COMMUNICATIONS: Burkett reported receipt of the AMA Club Charter Renewal package and its completion and submittal to AMA.

OFFICER REPORTS: Secretary-Treasurer Burkett reported a gain for 2004 of $170.00. Since inception, the club shows a $1,217.77 gain (cash in bank).

COMMITTEE REPORTS: Field Committee Chairman Ignacio reported the completion of the erection of the hot wire fence and plans to mow the field soon. April 17 was set as a work day to prepare the field for the May 1 event. A discussion about RF interference was held and Burkett agreed to contact Dr. Sandy Frank about obtaining the AMA portable spectrum analyzer to test the flying field for RF interference.

EVENTS COMMITTEE: Castor reported receipt of AMA sanction for the September 11 Graham R/C Roundup, sanction # 04-0342. Rovnyak reported receipt of sanction # 04-0125 for the May 1 Fun- Fly. Burkett (Event Coordinator for the Fun-Fly) assigned duties for the event as follows:

Registration/Tx Impound: Bob and Mary Castor, Oliver Watson
Field Preparation: 	 Marney Ignacio
Concessions:		 Doc Dockstader
Contest Coordinator: 	 Bill Martin
Prizes: 		 Burkett and Bob Castor
Promotion: 		 Dick Rovnyak
Meal: 			 Ernie Jackson (if able) and/or 
			 Sheryl and Ryan Mulvaney
Safety Inspections: 	 Dick Rovnyak
April 17 was set for the work day as well as a member-only warm-up for the May 1 event.

PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE: Chairman Rovnyak reported reserving the Graham Chamber of Commerce marquee for April 27-28 for advertising the May 1 event. Flyers were sent to several clubs, TV and newspaper promotions arranged.

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE: Curtis Herndon's application for membership was approved unanimously.

Unfinished Business: AMA Intro Pilots for 2004 will be Burkett and Martin (forms submitted to AMA). Burkett reported unpaid dues members for 2004: Jackson, Brock, Puryear. Per the Bylaws, these members were dropped from the roll as of 3-1-04 and reinstatement will require Board approval. Burkett reported the possibility of overlaying the runway with test asphalt mix.

NEW BUSINESS: The club roster was passed around for updates.

PROGRAM: Rovnyak brought his Wing Mfg. B-25J, ready for test flight. Details: 84 span, 17 lbs., two Saito 72 four stroke engines, Robart retracts with pneumatic brakes, 10 servos, 1200 mAh Rx battery, beautifully covered in aluminum Monokote. Dick estimates he spent 300-350 hours on construction. Impressive model.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
