MINUTES
GRAHAM R/C FLYERS
REGULAR MEETING
Jan 12, 2004

The December meeting of Graham R/C Flyers was held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 8, 2003, at Zack Burkett Co. Attending were Zack Burkett, III, Bill Martin, Marney Ignacio, Dick Rovnyak, Doc Dockstader, Bob Castor, Mary Castor, Richard Herndon, Ryan Mulvaney and guests Sherrel Mulvaney and Rosie Swift.

The minutes for the December 8, 2003 Regular Meeting were approved.

Communications: Burkett passed around a flyer from the Haskell club regarding their upcoming sailplane event.

Officer Reports: Secretary-Treasurer Burkett reported a gain for 2003 of $462.17. Since inception, the club shows a $1,059.77 gain (cash in bank).

Committee Reports: Field Committee Chairman Ignacio will be scheduling a day and time to erect the hot wire around the field. A field clean-up day was set for Saturday, February 7, 2004 at 9:00 a.m.. Burkett reported his company was developing a cost estimate to overlay the runway with 1" of hot mix asphalt. It was agreed to also look into extending the runway another 100 feet on the south end.

Events Committee: Castor updated the club on the two events for 2004. The spring event is set for Saturday, May 1, a fun-fly as in the past. Rovnyak (Contest Director) asked Burkett to be the Event Coordinator. It was agreed to delete the Poker contest and add Fighter Attack as a new event. Castor agreed to coordinate this new event. Burkett will coordinate the Climb and Glide contest. A club-member-only "warm-up" flying session was scheduled for April 17.

Castor reported he is still awaiting AMA sanction for the Graham R/C Roundup set (tentatively) for September 11, 2004 (alternate date, September 18). Castor suggested we re-think the "Best Scale Flight" award for 2004.

Public Relations Committee: Chairman Rovnyak reported reserving the Graham Chamber of Commerce marquee for April 27-28 for advertising the May 1 event, and for September 9-10 for the September 11 event.

Unfinished Business: Burkett and Martin agreed to serve as Introductory Pilots for 2004. Burkett will contact Ernie Jackson as to his willingness to serve as well.

New Business: Burkett reminded all members to get their club dues in before February 1 (dues are delinquent after 2-1-04) and to renew their AMA memberships (a requirement of being a GRCF member). The February meeting was set as a club flying day at Lakeside Airpark on Sunday, February 8.

Program: Rovnyak brought an Airtech Electric B-2 Bomber and 2-channel radio. Interesting and inexpensive way to get into R/C.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
