The monthly meeting of Graham R/C Flyers was held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 13, 2003, at Zack Burkett Co. Attending were Zack Burkett, III, Marney Ignacio, Dick Rovnyak, Doc Dockstader, Richard Herndon, Oliver Watson and guest Marilyn Watson.
The minutes for the August 11, 2003 Regular Meeting were approved.
Communications: None.
Officer Reports: Secretary-Treasurer Burkett reported a gain for 2003 of $472.17. Since inception, the club shows a $1,069.77 gain (cash in bank). No expenses were submitted for the R/C Roundup Event, which led to a gain on the event of $441.00.
Committee Reports: Field Committee Chairman Ignacio will be scheduling a day and time to erect the hot wire around the field.
Public Relations Committee Chairman Rovnyak will look into getting a subscription to Model Aviation to Graham High School. A brief discussion was held concerning other ways to promote the club.
Membership Committee: Chairman Burkett reported receipt of membership application from Ryan Mulvaney. On a motion, duly seconded, Ryan's membership was approved.
Unfinished Business: A brief discussion was held on the September 20 R/C Roundup, which all agreed was a success.
New Business: Tentative dates were set for the 2003 events: Spring Fly-In: May 1, 2004 (second choice, May 8, 2004). Fall R/C Roundup: September 11, 2004 (second choice, September 18, 2004). A "club fly" was discussed as a warm-up for the May event, and a tentative date for it was set for April 17, 2004.
Program: Marney Ignacio brought his Hangar 9 Funtana ARF (.40 size 3-D model). Very impressive. Dick Rovnyak brought an engine nacelle for his B-25, done up with silk and dope finish. Interesting way to apply a light finish.
Next meeting date: December 8, 2003 (no meeting in November).
