The monthly meeting of Graham R/C Flyers was held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 14, 2003, at Zack Burkett Co. Attending were Zack Burkett, III, Marney Ignacio, Dick Rovnyak, Doc Dockstader, Bob Castor, and Richard Herndon.
The minutes for the June 9, 2003 Regular Meeting were approved.
Communications: Burkett reported receipt of various newsletters, e-mails and flyers.
Officer Reports: Secretary-Treasurer Burkett reported a gain for 2003 of $156. Since inception, the club shows a $754 gain (cash in bank). Also reported was a gain on the June 21 Fun-Fly of $276 less expenses yet to be submitted.
Committee Reports: Field Committee Chairman Ignacio scheduled a work day for Saturday, August 1 to erect the hot wire fencing. Public Relations Committee Chairman Rovnyak reported on his continuing efforts to promote an article in the Graham Leader about the club's Introductory Pilot Program. He also reported the Chamber of Commerce marquee is reserved for September 17 and 18 to promote the September 20 R/C Roundup. Events Committee Chairman Castor confirmed the following format for the September 20 Graham R/C Roundup:
1. Scale and non-scale fun-fly 2. Not a rulebook event 3. Trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place scale (by pilot's choice) 4. Plaque for Best Scale Flight awarded by a team of GRCF judges 5. Entry fee $15, including lunch, $5 meal ticket for non-pilots 6. Grab bags for pilots 7. Raffle for Airtronics VG Series 4-channel radio (donated by Judith Ann Rovnyak) 8. CD: Castor; Coordinator: Burkett.
Unfinished Business: The June 21 Fun-Fly was discussed and all agreed it was a great success.
Also discussed was the proposal by Rovnyak to establish a position of Flight Training Director to better coordinate the club's AMA Introductory Pilot Program and the need to provide flight training to club members. It was agreed that a Flight Training Committee should replace the Introductory Pilot Committee to be responsible for both the AMA Introductory Pilot Program and flight training for current club members. Burkett will establish the committee and ask Ernie Jackson to chair.
New Business: Club shirts, caps and patches were discussed and it was agreed that in order to sell more of them, the prices should be reduced. It was agreed to lower the prices for shirts to $20, caps to $8 and patches to $5.
The regular monthly meeting for August will be Monday, August 11, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. at Zack Burkett Co.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
