The monthly meeting of Graham R/C Flyers was held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 10, 2003, at Zack Burkett Co. Members in attendance were Zack Burkett, III, Doc Dockstader, Jim Norred, Bill Martin and Brad Brock.
The minutes for the January 13, 2003 meeting were read and approved.
Communications: Burkett reported no communications received.
Officer Reports: Secretary-Treasurer Burkett reported a gain for 2003 of $460.00. Since inception, the club shows a $1,057.60 gain (cash in bank).
Committee Reports: Burkett reported no membership applications received by the Membership Committee. No other committee chairmen were present.
Unfinished Business: Burkett presented a proposal addressing the issue of Associate Membership. After discussion, a motion was made and seconded to approve the two proposed amendments to the Constitution and Bylaws for submittal to a membership mail ballot, with the addition of a third proposed amendment to the Bylaws to provide for Associate Member dues of $15.00 per year. Motion prevailed. Burkett will mail the ballots to the members, with a due date of March 7, 2003.
Bill Martin reported that plans were underway for the annual EAA event at the Graham Municipal Airport this spring but that no date had been set for the event. It was agreed to have a booth set up in Burkett's hangar and to have a raffle (prize to be determined). Martin is in charge of the event for GRCF.
The two events for 2003 were discussed. It was the consensus of those present that the June 21 event should continue as in the past as a Fun-Fly, with perhaps the addition of a second Pilot's Choice award for best scale aircraft. It was also the consensus that the fall Graham R/C Roundup might be better attended if it were not a rule book event but just another fun-fly. Burkett will report the gist of the discussion to the Events Committee for their consideration and ask Castor to hold an Events Committee meeting as soon as possible. Martin suggested using R/C Universe website for posting/advertising our two events. Burkett also encouraged all members to try to make as many R/C events as possible this year to promote our club and our events. Brock mentioned an internet link to an AMA schedule that lists all upcoming events in District 8 and will send the link to Rovnyak for possible posting to GRCF's website.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:07 p.m.
