The monthly meeting of Graham R/C Flyers was held on Monday, June 10, 2002 at Zack Burkett Co. offices. President Ernie Jackson called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.
Attending were members Zack Burkett, III, Dick Rovnyak, Marney Ignacio, Jack G. Doc Dockstader and President Jackson.
The minutes from the May 13, 2002 meeting were read and approved.
COMMUNICATIONS Burkett reported receipt of a copy of their recent newsletter from the Abilene Radio Control Society.
OFFICER REPORTS Secretary-Treasurer report: cash in banks: $1,531.30 and a gain year-to-date of $129.51. Preliminary figures for the June 8 event indicate a break-even on the event. Estimate of raffle ticket sales show a small loss on the raffle.
COMMITTEE REPORTS Public Relations: Rovnyak reported developing a report of the event for the newspaper. He also requested specifics of the September Fun Scale event for preparing flyers and will get with the Events Committee for the info. Also reported the Chamber of Commerce marquee has been reserved for September 25 and 26.
Events Committee: Discussion was held regarding the September 28 Fun Scale event. Jackson named Burkett as Event Coordinator, with Castor serving as Contest Director. Jackson agreed to be in charge of the food, and Ignacio will handle the field preparation. Dockstader agreed to handle the concessions, and Rovnyak will be in charge of promotion. Burkett will assign other items to other members (registration, impound, etc.).
Field Committee: Jackson appointed Dockstader to the Field Committee. A discussion was held regarding a storage building for the field and a permanent safety fence. No final decisions reached. All agreed the new entry sign is well- done. Good work by Rovnyak for getting the sign made and to Jackson, Brock, Ignacio for getting it erected.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS The club trainer aircraft was discussed. Burkett agreed to get with Bill Martin to complete the airplane and have it ready by the end of June.
NEW BUSINESS A discussion was held regarding GRCF members attending other club's events, to improve our PR with other clubs. Dockstader, Burkett, Jackson and Rovnyak will try to attend the Wichita Falls event June 15 at Jaycee Park.
The July meeting was set Sunday, July 7, 2002 at Lakeside Airpark. The club trainer will be test-flown.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:150 p.m.
