GRAHAM R/C FLYERS
REGULAR MEETING
May 13, 2002

The monthly meeting of Graham R/C Flyers was held on Monday, May 13, 2002 at Zack Burkett Co. offices. President Ernie Jackson called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.

Attending were members Zack Burkett, III, Dick Rovnyak, Marney Ignacio, Bob Castor, Mary Castor, Bill Martin, Brad Brock and President Jackson. Also in attendance were guests Jack G. Doc Dockstader, Fred Key, Lon French and John Morrel. Guests were welcomed and membership applications given to Key and Morrel.

The minutes from the April 8, 2002 meeting were read and approved.

COMMUNICATIONS

Rovnyak reported contact with 24 clubs to whom flyers had been sent on the June 8 event. Presented copy of info to go on Chamber of Commerce marquee. Reported request from Sandy Frank for ideas for the 2003 SW Aeromodeling Conference in Arlington. Presented a flyer with advance info regarding the September Fun Scale event for having on hand at the June 8 fly-in. Reported a fun-fly at Haskell June 1.

OFFICER REPORTS

President Jackson commented on the Graham Air Fair success and thanked all those who helped with the club booth. Burkett reported a gain of $177 on the kit raffle. Fred Gough, who won the kit, sold it to Doc Dockstader and donated the $75 proceeds to the club.

Secretary-Treasurer report: cash in banks: $1,251.30 and a loss year-to-date of ($150.49). Copies of the detailed financial reports were circulated.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Field Committee: Ignacio informed the group of problems with the mower. Burkett advised he was having it checked out. Work day June 1: Burkett will have field mowed except close in around the runway. Burkett will bring asphalt patching material for runway patching and improvements at the cattle guard. Old desks to be removed. Rovnyak to contact Bailey regarding the transmitter rack used last year. All were asked to bring brooms, shovels, rakes, weedeaters, etc. to the work day.

Events Committee: Discussion on the June 8 Fun-Fly-In; Jackson and Ignacio handling the lunch; Bill Martin in charge of the Poker and Climb and Glide events. Castor is CD. Schedule:

Ken Retsma of Wichita Falls is handling the transmitter impound. Burkett will bring cones for parking area and line up 2 porta-potties from Hamiltons. Flying field set-up discussed and agreed. Grab bag prizes discussed, agreed to limit one prize per pilot until all pilots have a prize. Prizes for Poker and Climb & Glide winners: kit and engine. Ribbons and medals for 2nd through 5th. Pilots Choice awards for Best Sport, Best Military, Best Scale, and Best of Show. Airplane must have flown to be in the judging.

Lunch tickets: $5 for non-pilots. Entry fee of $15 includes lunch for pilots.

Public Relations Committee: Rovnyak and Burkett reported on the sign for the Lakeside Airpark entry. On a motion and second, the officers were authorized to have the sign made at a cost not to exceed $400. Motion passed. Rovnyak and Burkett to get it accomplished.

Membership Committee: Burkett reported membership applications received from Lon French and Doc Dockstader. On a motion, duly seconded and passed, French and Dockstader were approved for membership.

Intro Pilot Committee: Jackson reported plans to have buddy-box flights available to interested spectators at the June 8 event. Bill Martin offered a trainer airplane and Burkett offered a transmitter and receiver. Jackson to see to getting the club trainer aircraft completed and flight-tested. UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Burkett reported on discussions with a CPA regarding IRS 501(c)3 designation. Further study needs to be done.

The June meeting was set for Monday, June 10, 2002 at Zack Burkett Co. office, 7:00 p.m.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
