MINUTES
GRAHAM R/C FLYERS
REGULAR MEETING
April 8, 2002

The monthly meeting of Graham R/C Flyers was held on Monday, April 8, 2002 at Zack Burkett Co. offices. President Ernie Jackson called the meeting to order at 7:15 p.m.

Attending were members Zack Burkett, III, Dick Rovnyak, Marney Ignacio, Bob Castor, Mary Castor and President Jackson. Also in attendance were guests Lacy Smith and Jack G. Doc Dockstader. Doc introduced himself, expressing an interest in joining and was given membership applications.

The minutes from the March 11, 2002 meeting were read and approved.

COMMUNICATIONS

It is with sorrow the club notes the death of member Lloyd McAfee. Burkett reported making a $50 donation on behalf of the club to the Margret McAfee Love Account at a bank in Breckenridge.

Burkett reported receipt of a flyer from Abilene R/C Society regarding their Fly-In May 4-5, 2002.

OFFICER REPORTS

Secretary-Treasurer report: cash in banks: $1,398.32 and a loss year-to-date of ($3.47).

President Jackson named Marney Ignacio to chair the Field Committee in view of Lloyds passing.

Vice-President Rovnyak reported Mike Burrow's plans to move to Tyler, Texas.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Field Committee: It was reported that Vic Bailey had asked to be relieved of the duty to construct the entry sign for Lakeside Airpark. Ignacio, Rovnyak and Burkett agreed to get together and develop a prototype and look into getting the sign made commercially. A work day was scheduled at the field for June 1, 2002 to prepare for the June 8 event.

Events Committee: Castor reported receiving AMA sanction numbers for the June and September events and that the June event was listed in the May issue of Model Aviation. He also displayed the medals to be given for the first three places in the June contests (Poker and Climb and Glide) and trophies and ribbons for the September event. A special meeting of the Events Committee was slated for Sunday, April 21, 2002 at Lakeside Airpark, 2:30 p.m. to finalize the June event organizational details for presentation at the club's regular meeting on May 13.

Public Relations Committee: Rovnyak reported that flyers for the June event had been mailed to several clubs in the area. Flyers were distributed to members for handing out and placing in businesses around town. He reported the Chamber of Commerce marquee was reserved for advertising the two events.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

In accordance with the call for a special election from the March meeting, Jackson opened the floor for nominations to fill the unexpired term of Roger Robinson as Safety Officer. Brad Brock was elected by acclamation. Said term will expire 12-31-02.

EAA Fly-In April 20, 2002. Jackson asked Brock to organize the club's participation at the event. Burkett agreed to help. Bob Castor offered to donate a raffle prize, and it was decided that he would purchase a trainer kit at Action Hobbies in Wichita Falls and Burkett would pick it up.

NEW BUSINESS

Rovnyak brought up the idea of implementing a Dubious Records program. It was decided to award Most Spectacular Crash and Most Crashes in the Year awards at the annual Christmas party.

PROGRAM

Dick Rovnyak presented his recently-completed Wright Flyer from Derr Engineering, sporting two Dymond Model Sport Max 1 electric motors, Jeti 110 ESC and Hitec HS-50 sub-micro servos and a Hitec 550 receiver. Brock presented his ready to paint Pica Spitfire Mk IX with a SuperTiger G-60 Bluehead engine.

The May meeting was set for Monday, May 13, 2002 at Zack Burkett Co. office, 7:00 p.m.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:33 p.m.
