The monthly meeting of Graham R/C Flyers was held on Monday, March 11, 2002 at Zack Burkett Co. offices. President Jackson called the meeting to order at 7:20 p.m.
Attending were members Zack Burkett, III, Dick Rovnyak, Bill Martin, Marney Ignacio and President Jackson. Also in attendance was Mike Burrow.
The minutes from the February 11, 2002 meeting were read and approved.
COMMUNICATIONS
It is with sorrow the club notes the death of Safety Officer Roger Robinson on February 22, 2002. Many of the club members attended the funeral services on February 26, 2002. Flowers were sent on behalf of the club.
Jackson reported receipt of a flyer from RCAirport.com and a thank you note from Lois Robinson. Burkett reported receipt of a flyer on the WAMS Spring 2002 Swap Meet set for March 29-30 in Weatherford.
OFFICER REPORTS
Secretary-Treasurer report: cash in banks: $1,581.12 and a gain year-to-date of $255.00.
President Jackson indicated he would call a special meeting of the Events Committee to finalize work assignments and last-minute details for the June 8 Fun-Fly-In.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Membership Committee: Burkett reported receipt of an application for membership from Mike Burrow. On a motion and second, Burrow's membership was approved.
Field Committee: Rovynak reported Chairman McAfee's illness to be terminal lung cancer. Jackson appointed Marney Ignacio to Co-chair this committee in view of McAfee's condition.
Public Relations Committee: Rovnyak presented a draft of the flyer for the June 8 event for comment. He will get with Burkett on getting sufficient copies made and will see to their distribution. He also brought a copy of the February, 2002 edition of the Lake Country Senior Times featuring articles on Rovnyak and Oliver Watson, to go into the club archives. Rovnyak also reported Vic bailey had begun work on the Lakeside Airpark sign.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Following a short discussion, it was decided Burkett would replace Robinson as one of the club's three Introductory Pilots (the other two being Jackson and Bill Martin). Burkett will confirm this with AMA.
On a motion and a second, Dick Rovnyak was elected to complete the term of Vice President, in accord with the call for the special election at the February 11, 2002 meeting. Said term will expire 12-31-02.
NEW BUSINESS
A motion was offered and seconded to call a special election at the April, 2002 meeting to fill Roger Robinson's unexpired term as Safety Officer. Motion prevailed.
A discussion was held concerning the club's helping Lois Robinson dispose of Roger's R/C equipment, aircraft, etc. It was agreed that if Lois so chose, the club would sell the items and deliver the proceeds to her, or, at her discretion, donate the proceeds to the club. Jackson agreed to contact Lois regarding this.
PROGRAM
Dick Rovnyak presented his recently-completed Sig Somethin' Extra, sporting an O.S. .46 FX engine, Airtronics radio, and colorful blue and yellow film trim scheme. Nice aircraft.
The April meeting was set for Monday, April 8, 2002 at Zack Burkett Co. office, 7:00 p.m.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
