GRAHAM R/C FLYERS
REGULAR MEETING
Nov 11, 2001

The regular monthly meeting of Graham R/C Flyers was held on Monday, November 11, 2001at Zack Burkett Co. offices. President Jackson called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m.

Attending were members Zack Burkett, III, Roger Robinson, Dick Rovnyak, Bob Castor, Oliver Watson, Lloyd McAfee, Bill Martin, Marney Ignacio and President Jackson. Guests: Mary Castor and Marilyn Watson.

Minutes for the September 10 meeting were reviewed and approved (no October meeting).

COMMUNICATIONS

Burkett reported receiving documents pertaining to his appointment as an AMA Introductory Pilot. Martin and Jackson likewise reported receiving their documents.

REPORTS OF OFFICERS

Treasurer Burkett reported cash in bank of approximately $1,526.

President Jackson led a discussion regarding monthly versus bi-monthly meetings. The consensus was to continue with monthly meetings.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Field Committee: Jackson named Lloyd McAfee to chair this committee in view of Vic Bailey's resignation from the club. Members named to the committee: Oliver Watson, Marney Ignacio, Sean Puryear, Roger Robinson, Kyle Thoma, Lane Harding, Lane Brock and William Martin. Bailey has indicated he would build a sign for the entrance if the club would furnish the material. Bailey's notes also included an estimate of $500 for safety fencing material.

Events Committee: Bob Castor named to chair this committee. Committee members named: Brad Brock, Dick Rovnyak, Bill Martin, Zack Burkett. Castor scheduled a meeting of the committee for Sunday, December 2 at Lakeside Airpark. Planned a public flying demo for December 2 at the field, inviting local youth groups to come out, specifically Charlie Bazzan's youth group from Faith Center. Rovnyak agreed to publicize the event. Burkett agreed to contact Bazzan. Castor's trophy was named "Graham R/C Roundup". Guidelines for award of the trophy to be developed by the Events Committee.

Membership Committee: Burkett named as chairman, Jim Roberts as committee member. A discussion was held about transferring memberships within the club. It was agreed not to adopt such a policy. A motion was offered and seconded to adopt an Introductory Pilot policy for the club which mirrors the AMA policy of a 30-day maximum status as an introductory (student) pilot, after which time the student must join AMA and GRCF. Motion passed. It was agreed that the club policy for considering new member applications would be to hold such applications until the applicant furnished evidence of AMA membership (i.e., his/her AMA number).

Introductory Pilot Committee: Chairman, Ernie Jackson. Members: Burkett, Roger Robinson, Bill Martin.

Public Relations Committee: Dick Rovnyak named chairman. Members named: Lloyd McAfee, Brad Brock, Marney Ignacio. Rovnyak reported meeting notices being put into newspaper, possibly on Channel 2 info channel on TV. Also is working on a subscription to Model Aviation for the Graham High School library.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

McAfee reported repairs needed to the field mower. Motion to approve said repairs was passed. He also gave a report on a recent, very successful event at the San Angelo R/C club field. Safety Cages and pavilion painting: referred to the Field Committee. Walk-plate for the cattle guard entrance: Burkett agreed to handle.

NEW BUSINESS

Christmas Party set for 7:00 p.m. on December 10, 2001. Burkett to contact Charlie Bazzan regarding use of Faith Center's fellowship hall for the party. Castor in charge of a program for the party. All members are to bring finger foods. Jackson will bring drinks.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
