GRAHAM R/C FLYERS
REGULAR MEETING
JUNE 11, 2001

The regular monthly meeting of Graham R/C Flyers was held on Monday, June 11, 2001at Zack Burkett Co. offices.. President Jackson called the meeting to order at 7:09 p.m.

Attending were members Zack Burkett, III, Brad Brock, Bill Martin, Vic Bailey, Roger Robinson and Marney Ignacio. Minutes for the May 7 meeting were reviewed and approved.

COMMUNICATIONS

Burkett reported sending a thank you letter to Eddie Taylor of Action Hobbies for his donation to the Fun-Fly and his discount on all the merchandise for the prizes.

REPORTS OF OFFICERS

V.P. Brock brought up the issue of a permanent safety fence for the field. Also, safety cages fro the pilot stations. The pavilion was noted to need straightening and reinforcing for wind loads. All topics deferred for later discussion,

Treasurer Burkett reported cash in bank of $1,602.04. Gain on EAA raffle of approximately $120 and a loss on the Fun-Fly of $37.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

None.

NEW BUSINESS

Discussion was held concerning a designated member serving as Flight Training Director for the club, to coordinate the offering of training to new pilots. On a motion by Robinson, seconded by Brock, Vic Bailey was nominated to fill this position. Motion passed unanimously.

Pilot safety cages were discussed. Martin agreed to construct one prototype cage.

A permanent safety fence was discussed at length. Brock agreed to look into the cost to build a chain link fence between the pilot stations and the pit area.

A work day was set for Monday, June 18 at 6:00 pm to straighten and reinforce the pavilion. Martin will head up a crew to make the repairs. All members are encouraged to participate.

Burkett offered to furnish a surplus storage shed for the field. He will look into the condition of his shed and report back.

A fall event was tabled for discussion at the July meeting.

A critique/debriefing of the EAA event and the June 2 Fun-Fly were tabled for discussion at the July meeting.

A club picnic and fun-fly was scheduled for Sunday, July 8 at Lakeside Airpark, flying in the afternoon and a meal at 6:30 pm. Jackson is to coordinate the event with help from Bailey and Ignacio.

PROGRAM

Brock presented a brief program on his new Somethin Extra. Burkett agreed to give a program at the July meeting on his P-47D Thunderbolt (Jug).

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:50 pm.
