CALLED MEETING
MAY 7, 2001

A called meeting of Graham R/C Flyers was held on Monday, May 7, 2001at Lakeside Airpark. President Jackson called the meeting to order at 7:25 p.m.

Attending were members Zack Burkett, III, Brad Brock, Bill Martin, Dick Rovnyak, Bob Castor and Vic Bailey. Guests in attendance were Mrs. Bob Castor, Lloyd McAfee and Karen Lemoine.

Minutes for the May 7 meeting were reviewed by President Jackson.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

EAA Fly-In, May 12, 2001

Burkett lead the discussion. The raffle is being coordinated by Vic Bailey. Tickets to be $1 each or 6 for $5 or 12 for $10. Each member is to sell $10 worth. Theater-type tickets will be used, and Burkett is to get them passed out to the members. It was agreed the winner need not be present to win. Drawing to be held at 1:00 p.m. at the booth. Bailey will provide a cash box and a hopper for the ticket stubs.

Rovnyak is heading up the booth and has a banner to put on the front of the booth. Burkett, Rovnyak, Martin and Brock will meet at Burketts barn at 7 am Saturday to pick up tables and chairs for the booth. Burkett will bring TV/VCR and two videos. Rovnyak developed an information packet for hand-outs at the booth. Burkett agreed to make 20 sets of copies. The booth will be set up in the main terminal hangar at the airport. Members were asked to bring a few copies of RC magazines to display. Each member is limited to bringing one display aircraft. Burkett will make info cards for display aircraft for anyone wanting one. Booth is to be set up by 8:00 am.

Flying Demo: Bill Martin in charge. Volunteer flyers: Martin, Jackson and Brock. Castor will provide spotters for pilots. Burkett will arrange to have field mowed and safety fence erected by Saturday. All members need to be available during flying demos (except for those manning the booth) to help Castor with crowd control.

GRCF Fun-Fly, June 2, 2001, Lakeside Airpark

Brad Brock in charge. Castor to be CD. Entry fee: $10 in advance, $15 on site; includes lunch. Lunch for non-flyers $4. Awards: Pilots Choice, Hangar 9 kit; Climb and Glide Contest winner: O.S. LA .40 or .46 engine. Poker Contest winner: same, or a kit of equal value. Burkett will see to getting the prizes purchased (Brock has the Hangar 9 kit). Burkett will run the Climb and Glide Contest; Martin will run the Poker Contest. Grab Bag giveaway to be headed up by Castor. Jackson to contact Mikes Hobbies about grab bag items. Estimate 20-25 grab bags needed. Burkett will also contact Action Hobbies (Eddie Taylor) about grab bag items. Bailey and Robinson will run the transmitter impound. Burkett will furnish canopy for impound. Brock and Burkett will coordinate on setting up parking cones, pit area safety fences and pilot station safety fences. A work day will be needed just prior to the event; Brock to coordinate work day. Jackson in charge of the lunch (hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, beans, potato salad). Brock to line up soft drinks/bottled water sales. Elizabeth Castor will handle pilot registration.

NEW BUSINESS

New member: Lloyd McAfees membership application was accepted. Upon a motion and second, the application was approved unanimously.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:35 pm.
