The regular stated meeting of Graham R/C Flyers was held on Monday, January 8, 2001, at 7:00 p,m. at Zack Burkett Co. offices. President Jackson called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m.
Attending were members Zack Burkett, III, Brad Brock, Bill Martin, Dick Rovnyak, Bob Castor, Sean Puryear, Roger Robinson, Oliver Watson, Vic Bailey and President Jackson. Guest in attendance was Mrs. Bob Coster.
Minutes for the November 13, 2000 meeting were reviewed.
COMMUNICATIONS
Secretary-Treasurer Burkett reported receipt of $100 from RCHTA for positive media coverage for the September, 2000 Fly-In and had drafted a letter of thanks to RCHTA for President Jacksons signature.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Newsletter: President Jackson appointed Brock to serve as club newsletter editor and asked for written input from all members for the newsletter. It was agreed that the newsletter would be mailed out in hard-copy form to the members. Any info must be in Brocks hands by the 15th of each month.
New Entry Gate/Cattle Guard: Martin reported having a cattle guard platform for the new entry and is to get with Burkett and someone from TxDOT to review the location for sight-distance and side-road pipe requirements and get started on the new entry gate.
Promotional Items: Marney Ignacio was absent and the matter of club shirts and caps was tabled.
NEW BUSINESS
RCD Hitec, Inc. Field Improvement Program: Burket reported a program sponsored by RCD Hitec, Inc. of ten $1,000 grants available to clubs for field improvements. Burkett presented a draft grant application for review and discussion. After discussion, a motion was made by Castor, seconded by Rovnyak, to submit the grant application with agreed amendments. Motion passed.
Field Marshall: President Jackson appointed Bob Castor Field Marshall for 2001.
2001 Club Events and Calendar: Work days: President Jackson appointed Vic Bailey as Lakeside Airpark Manager to stay abreast of needed work items at the field and to schedule work days as needed. It was agreed that needed work items would be discussed at each monthly meeting and work days scheduled at the meetings.
Upcoming Events: Brock reported the Southwest Aeromodelers Conference in Arlington was set for May 19. John Puryear stated the annual EAA Fly-In would likely be set for May 12 but that a firm date would be set by the EAA at their upcoming meeting later in the week. It was agreed to tentatively schedule an AMA-sanctioned GRCF Fly-In for June 2, 2001 with June 9 as a rain date. It was also agreed to try to schedule more club socials for 2001. President Jackson asked for input from the members for other events for the year.
OFFICER REPORTS
Secretary-Treasurer Burkett reported a current bank account balance of $1,271.04. He also reminded all members that 2001 dues are due by February 1 and are delinquent after that date. Any member delinquent at March 1 is automatically suspended from membership. Burkett also agreed to look into obtaining non-profit status for the club and will report at the next meeting.
President Jackson set the next monthly club meeting for February 12, 2001, at 7:00 pm at Zack Burkett Co. office.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm. Following adjournment, Castor gave a program on a new receiver from FMA Direct.
