Intro-Pilot plan

The Graham Radio Controlled Flyers Club is offering to provide the opportunity for the general public to try R/C aircraft flying. Individual one-on-one instruction with Club equipment will allow interested persons to test their skill and desire to enter this hobby.

Basically this will be a private tutorial for the prospective R/C flyer by a GRCF certified instructor. Equipment including the trainer aircraft, fuel, starter facilities etc, and transmitters is provided by the Graham R/C Flyers Club. Instruction will be at the Club's Lakeside Airpark accross from the Graham Country Club on FM 61. It includes approximately 1/2 hour of the basics of flight, R/C equipment operation and pre-flight practices followed by 1/2 hour of hands-on flying experience. The student will use a Buddy Box which can be given control by the instructor who commands the Control transmitter and who will be ready to resume control as may be necessary.

The flying tutorial routine is as follows. The instructor takes the plane off the ground and flys the pattern while the student pilot observes the aircraft and instructor's manipulation on the control transmitter. When the student pilot is ready, instructor issues the command for the student pilot to take over control of the aircraft. Student flys the aircraft in the pattern getting comfortable with handling the transmitter. Instructor will monitor the Student's skill and duration of the flight and will land the plan for refueling. This procedure will be repeated as is useful and of interest to the student.

Prospective R/C pilots can request a session by calling 549-3989. An instructor will get in touch with the student and arrange for the time to go flying.
